The Millionaire Matchmaker "Kid In a Candy Store and Groundhog Day” Recap (1/23/14)

January 24, 2014

This week's millionaire's are Stefan Richter, Chef & Restaurateur and Brian Minter, Real Estate Developer/Entrepreneur.

Stefan Richter, 41, has appeared on seasons 5 & 10 of "Top Chef."  He's originally from Finland, but lives in L.A. He is looking for a partner who would rather sit around a campfire and grill sausages. He is much happier around women than around a bunch of guys watching football. He loves women...preferably blondes or redheads with nice teeth.

Patti is not sold. She has known him for six years and knows exactly what type of person he is. She nicknames him "Kid in a Candy Store" because he is like a kid in a candy store that can't decide what flavor he wants to take home with him. (he is constantly picking one girl and moving on to the next) Stefan assures Patti he is not a player and just wants to meet a person who "understands where he is coming from."

Patti is reluctant to throw a mixer for Stefan for fear that he will meet the 25 women, get their numbers, f**k them, and leave them. However, she loves a challenge and believes everyone deserves love. She also has a trick up her sleeve to scare Stefan straight...introduce him to two elderly men, Dan & Roger, who tell him that he will regret it if he does not find a woman to spend his life with. Patti is hopeful that this struck a cord with Stefan. She tells Stefan to take Dan & Roger's advice so he does not end up alone.

Next up is Brian Minter. Brian, 32, lives in Las Vegas and is a member of Mensa. He has everything a single man could possibly want, but he is missing that special someone to spend his life with. He is looking for a woman with passion and values. He needs Patti's help because he keeps dating the same type of girls over and over again. (ie. the cocktail waitresses and dancers) Brian finds it difficult to meet a career woman in Vegas.

Patti believes he is stuck in a Groundhog Day cycle since he keeps dating the same type of women over and over again and expecting a different result. She tells Brian to really get to know the women at the mixer and leave the party girls alone.

Recruiting Day: For Brian, Patti is looking for a brainy Kate Upton who is done with the party lifestyle. For Stefan, Patti is looking for a worldly woman who loves to travel and the outdoors.

Her assistants come through and find a plethora of potential daters for Stefan and Brian.

Mixer: Patti has a surprise for Stefan... an earpiece. She is going to tell him what to say to the women. As expected, it does not take long for Stefan to completely ignore everything Patti tells him to do. He takes out the earpiece and Patti goes off. She tells him "he does not have it" and he could not get any of the women if she did not bring them. Stefan actually puts his earpiece back in and begins acting like a gentleman.

Brian is keeping Patti's words in mind and staying away from the party girls.

Master Date: Stefan chooses Emma. He picks her up in his VW Camper bus and they drive to Malibu where they set up a campfire on the beach. They go for walk and the conversation is definitely lacking. For dinner, Stefan pulls out a cooler with raw fish and prepares sashimi, much to Aubrey's dismay.

After the date, Patti calls Emma for an update. Emma tells Patti she had a good time, but not a good date. She did not feel special. She doesn't think he has ever courted anyone.

When Stefan comes into the office, Patti tells him he was cheap on the date and that he needed to bring his A game. He did not consider what Emma wanted to do. Patti says he needs to romance women and step away from his ego and learn something. She advises him to go out with Emma again, but this time romance her and show her he is interested.

Master Date: Brian chooses Aubrey. The two meet at a restaurant for dinner. Brian is taking Patti's advice and is really attempting to get to know Aubrey. After dinner, they head off to do some indoor rock climbing. The date ends with Aubrey confessing that she finds Brian attractive.

After the date, Patti calls Aubrey for an update. Aubrey says the date was awesome and Brian was really sweet and attentive. She definitely wants to see him again.

Patti calls Brian. He admits that he likes Aubrey a lot. She is family oriented, career focused, and has great values. Patti tells him to keep in touch

Update: Stefan and Emma have been in touch with each other. But Emma has not yet agreed to go on another date with Stefan.

Update: Brian and Aubrey have been seeing each other steadily. Brian has entered a new happier Groundhog Day, cycle.
