Chris Brown is going to stand trial. Prosecutors and Brown's attorneys selected April 17, 2014 as the start date for his trial on a misdemeanor assault charge. The trial date was selected Thursday, during a hearing in D.C., that the singer was not required to attend, Associated Press reports.

Brown previously rejected a plea deal during a hearing on the case in January.

Brown and his bodyguard are accused of assaulting Parker Isaac Adams outside of a D.C. nightclub in October. On Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, Parker filed a civil lawsuit against Chris and his bodyguard. He is seeking $3 million in damages.

Brown is currently in court-ordered rehab in Los Angeles.
