Former NFL player and Super Bowl Champion, Darren Sharper, has officially been charged with two counts of rape by use of drugs, TMZ reports. Sharper was also charged with four counts of furnishing a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Officials allege that Darren met the women at a West Hollywood nightclub and invited them back to his hotel room where he raped them. The women say they were offered alcohol, passed out, and awoke to being sexually assaulted by Sharper.

Sharper was arrested last month on suspicion of rape and released on $200,000 bail.

Officials say they are also investigating an allegation of sexual assault against Sharper in New Orleans, Louisiana.

If convicted of these felonies, he faces more than 30 years in prison.

Update: Sharper appeared in court today and pleaded Not Guilty to the charges that he raped and drugged two women. In response, the judge set strict bail terms for the former NFL player, and they are as follows:
  • Sharper must remain in Los Angeles County
  • Sharper must surrender his passport
  • Sharper may not frequent nightclubs, bars, or any establishment where alcohol is the primary item for sale.
  • Sharper is not allowed to be alone with any female he did not know before Oct 30, 2013.

Sharper's bail was set at $1 million. He is expected back in court April 15, 2014
