Chopped "Dread and Breakfast" Recap (3/18/14)

On Tuesday's episode of "Chopped" the following four chefs compete for the title of Chopped Champion and $10,000:
 
Chef Joe Wetherbee, Chef & Owner of Joe's Café, CA
 
Chef Rose Kai, Exec. Chef of The Fresh Potato Factory, CA
 
Chef Matt Lackey, Exec. Chef of Flyte World Dining and Wine, TN  
 
Chef Brandon Frohne, Exec. Chef of Mason Restaurant, TN.
 
In a surprising twist, the chefs must create Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner using the mystery basket ingredients and any additional pantry and fridge items. 
 
Each dish is judged on presentation, taste, and creativity. The chef whose dish the judges like the least will be...Chopped. 

 
In the Breakfast Round, the mystery basket included Mimosas, Cream-Filled Chocolate Eggs, Breakfast Sausages, and Coffee Cake.
 
Chef Joe made Coffee Cake Biscuits & Sausage Gravy with Cream Spinach
 
Chef Rose made Coffee Cake Hash with Cheesy Sausage and Eggs
 
Chef Brandon made Chocolate Cream Egg & Coffee Cake Pudding
 
Chef Matt made Salted Cake with Bittered Chocolate Cream Sauce
 
 
Chopped: Chef Rose. The judges felt that her dish did not come together.
 
 
 
The Lunch Round challenged the chefs with John Dory, Arugula, Vodka Martini, and Pate.
 
Chef Brandon made Vodka Pate Bouillabaisse with Tapenade Croutons
 
Chef Matt made Seared John Dory with a Warm Mushroom Salad
 
Chef Joe made Citrus-Grilled John Dory with Arugula Puree
 
 
Chopped: Chef Brandon. The judges felt that his dish was missing several elements to get it to the necessary level.
 
 
 
In the Dinner Round, the chefs were tasked with Prime Rib, Amarone Wine, Potato Gratin, and Shallot Confit  
 
Chef Joe made Grilled Prime Rib with Amarone Reduction Sauce & Smashed Potatoes
 
Chef Matt made Eye of Ribeye with Potato Gratin Puree
 
 
Chopped: Chef Matt. The judges felt that there were errors in his Breakfast and Dinner plates.
 
 
Chopped Champion: Chef Joe. He wins $10,000
