Chopped "Redeemed or Re-Chopped" Recap (11/5/13)

November 6, 2013

This episode of Chopped features Chef Jeff Eng, Chef Zoe Feigenbaum, Chef Kent Rollins, and Chef Frank Whittaker. These four chefs have returned to the Chopped kitchen to redeem themselves and win the title of Chopped Champion and $10,000.

They are again faced with making an Appetizer, Entree, and Dessert using the ingredients in their mystery boxes and any additional pantry and fridge items.

In the Appetizer Round, the chefs use Vegan Lobster, Hot Mustard, Canned Chop Suey, and Winter Melon. They are given 20 minutes to complete this meal. Chef Kent makes Chop Suey Salad with Butter and Garlic Vegan Lobster. Chef Frank makes Vegan Lobster and Winter Melon Stir Fry over Polenta. Chef Zoe makes Thai Coconut Soup. Chef Jeff makes Winter Melon Soup. The judges decide to Chop Chef Frank. They did not like the canned taste the Chop Suey gave his polenta.

The Entree Round tasks the chefs to make a meal from Skordalia (garlic tarter sauce), Hawaiian Parrot Fish, Pickled Sour Grapes, Chayote Squash. Chef Jeff makes Cumin Crusted Parrot Fish with Chayote Slaw. Chef Zoe makes Olive Oil Poached Fish with Tzatziki Sauce. Chef Kent makes Breaded Parrot Fish with Skordalia Tarter Sauce. Chef Jeff is Chopped. The judges felt that his overuse of the Skordalia made his fish inedible.

Lastly the Dessert Round features Bubble Tea, Papaya, Coconut Butter, and Chocolate Covered Bananas. Chef Zoe makes Baked Alaska with Banana Chocolate Ice Cream. Chef Kent makes Bread Pudding with a Blueberry Cream Whiskey Sauce. The judges are not impressed with Chef Zoe's dessert, they felt that it lacked cohesion. The judges were unable to taste Chef Kent's dessert because he cut himself and got blood in the food. Ultimately, the judges decided to Chop Chef Kent because they felt all his dishes did not come together creatively.

Chef Zoe is the Chopped Champion.
