Chopped "Competition Italiano" Recap (10/29/13)

Tuesday's episode of Chopped once again featured four talented culinary chefs battling for the coveted spot of Chopped Champion and $10,000.

Chef Antonio Mare, Chef & owner of Aldo Restaurant, CA; Chef Lisa Savage, Chef & Owner of Savage Restaurant, NJ; Chef Phillip Meoli, Chef of Brooklyn Pub, NJ; and Chef Luca Manderino, Chef & Owner of La Sosta Entoteca, CA are faced with creating an Appetizer, Entrée, and Dessert from this week's mystery baskets featuring authentic Italian ingredients.


In the Appetizer Round, the mystery basket contained Soppressata, Pasta Dough, Limoncello, and New Born Baby Fish.

Chef Philip prepared Gnocchi Fra Diavolo with Mesclun Salad
Chef Antonio prepared Linguine with Limoncello Sauce
Chef Luca prepared Pasta "Crostini" with Soppressata and Sauteed Baby Fish

Chopped: Chef Philip. The judges would not taste his dish since he had blood on the plates.


The Entree Round featured Veal Chops, Bottarga (salted fish roe), Cafe Macchiato, and Graffiti Eggplant.

Chopped: Chef Lisa. She forgot to include one of the mystery basket ingredients, the Bottarga, in her dish.


Dessert Round called on the chefs to use Figs, Burrata, Piadina (italian flatbread), and Chinoto (carbonated soft drink).

Chef Antonio prepared Fig & Burrata Strudel with Chinoto Creme Anglais.

Chopped: Chef Luca


Chef Antonio is crowned the Chopped Champion and wins the $10,000.
