Chopped "Mother's Day" Recap (5/6/14)

It's Mother's Day! Tuesday's episode of Chopped, featured the following four mothers competing for $10k and the title of Chopped Champion:
 
Sunny Hostin, Mom & CNN Analyst
 
Tina Adams, Mom & Real Estate Agent
 
Lisa Keys, Mom & Retired Physician 
 
Samantha Mclerran, Mom & ER Physician
 
These mothers faced the task of creating three dishes, Appetizer, Entrée and Dessert using kid- friendly ingredients. The mom whose dish the judges liked the least...was Chopped.
 
 
The Appetizer Round featured the following mystery basket ingredients: Chicken noodle soup, Salsa, Ground beef, and Spinach.

 

Sunny made Crispy Beef Wontons with Spinach Greens
Tina made East Meets Latin Sliders
Lisa made Dad's Home Mex-Italian Meatballs
Samantha made Spiced Meatballs with Noodle Soup & Sautéed Spinach 

Chopped: Samantha. She overcooked her meatballs.
 
 
For the Entrée Round, the moms had 30 minutes to create a meal using Tilapia Fillets, Plantains, Crispy Fruit Cereal, and Pink GrapreFruit Jam .
Lisa made Caitlin’s Favorite Crispy Fish with Tostones
Sunny made Pan-Seared Tilapia Con Tostones
Tina made Asian Tilapia with Technicolor Tempura
 
Chopped: Tina. She undercooked her plantains.
 
In the Dessert Round, the moms were challenged with Passion Fruit, Chocolate Sauce, Dates, and Lady Fingers.
Sunny made Coquito Two Ways with Passion-Fruit Date Compote
Lisa made Sweet William's Fancy Chocolate Date Cookies
 
Chopped: Sunny. The judges were not impressed with her plating/ presentation skills.
 
Chopped Champion: Lisa Keys. She wins $10,000.
