Chopped "G'Day" Recap (5/20/14)

Tuesday’s episode of Chopped, featured the following chefs competing for the title of Chopped Champion & 10k:

Patti Peck, Chef & Restaurateur of Beachwood Café, CA

Jason Netro, Head Chef of Papasito Mexican Grill, NY

Cass Quinland-Ashford, Personal Chef, NY

Peter Lemos, Chef de Cuisine of L &E Oyster Bar, CA

 
G'Day Mate! The chefs were challenged with mystery baskets filled with Australian delicacies.

 
For the Appetizer Round, the chefs had 20 minutes to create a meal using Lamb Ribs, Rainbow Chard, Loaded Baked Potato, and Cherry Moonshine.  

Patti made Seared Lamb Riblets with Chard and Herb Salad

Jason made Grilled Lamb Ribs with Cherry Moonshine Cream Sauce

Cass made Oven-Roasted Lamb with Chard & Potato Hash

Peter made Lamb Ribs with Pickled Chard

Chopped: Chef Jason Netro. He failed to put two of the key ingredients on his plate.

 
In the Entrée Round, the mystery basket contained Emu Fan Fillet, Australian Mustard, Vegetable Pasties, and Moonshine.  
 
Peter made Marinated Emu Fillets with Grilled Romaine and Vinaigrette

Cass made Moonshine & Mustard Marinated Emu with Ragout

Patti made Emu Two Ways with Coconut Moonshine Apple Sauce
 
Chopped: Chef Cass Quinland-Ashford. Her emu did not rest properly causing blood to pool in one of the judges’ plates.

 
The Dessert Round challenged the chefs with Canned Cheddar Cheese, Wheat Biscuit Cereal, Guanciale, and Apple Moonshine.

Peter made Deconstructed Apple Crumble

Patti made Cheese & Buttermilk Cold Cream with Apricot Jam Puff Pastry

Chopped: Chef Peter Lemos. The judges felt he made major execution flaws throughout all three rounds.


Chopped Champion: Chef Patti Peck. She won $10,000.
