Chopped "Leftovers Rescue Mission" Recap (4/29/14)

On Tuesday's episode of Chopped, the following chefs competed for the title of Chopped Champion & $10,000:

Chef Chris Lukic, Chef & Owner of Yellow Plum Restaurant, NJ

Chef Mike Kollarik, Chef de cuisine of Edi and the Wolf, NY

Chef Kyle Mcclelland, Culinary chef at Prospect Restaurant, NY

Chef Connie Tran, Chef & Owner of BEP Vietnamese Kitchen, CA

Leftover Extravaganza! The chefs faced the task of using leftovers in each of their three dishes (Appetizer, Entrée, and Dessert). Although, the chefs were allowed to use additional pantry and fridge items, their dishes had to showcase the mystery basket ingredients...leftovers.

 
The Appetizer Round challenged the chefs with Leftover Turkey Meatloaf, Leftover Kimchi, Leftover Naan, and Leftover Baked Ziti.

Connie made Meatloaf & Baked Ziti Tom Yum Soup 

Mike made Crispy Spiced Meatloaf with Naan Puree

Chris made Spiced Turkey Meatloaf & Baked Ziti Flatbread

Kyle made Warm Spinach Salad with Naan & Kimchi Dressing

 
Chopped: Chef Chris. He failed to transform the Naan bread.
 
 
 
In the Entrée Round, the mystery basket included Leftover Shepard’s Pie, Hard-Boiled Eggs, Hot Sauce Packets, and Leftover Broccoli Casserole.
 
Connie made Beef & Potato Wontons with Broccoli Sauce
 
Mike made Reconstructed Baked Potatoes with Broccoli Cheese Sauce
 
Kyle made Spicy Penne Bolognese with Broccoli Gribiche
 
 
Chopped: Chef Connie. She forgot to include a mystery basket ingredient, hot sauce, in her dish.
 
 
For the Dessert Round the chefs were given 30 minutes to create a meal using Banana Pudding, Orange Marmalade, Broken Crackers, and Leftover Bacon.
 
Mike made Cracker Cakes with Orange Marmalade Ice Cream
 
Kyle made Vanilla Financiers with Orange Candied Bacon
 
 
Chopped: Chef Kyle. One of the judges plates in the Entrée Round had a hair on it.
 
 
Chopped Champion & $10k Winner: Chef Mike Mcclelland.
