On tonight’s episode of “Chopped,” the following four chefs: Evelyn Garcia, Junior Sous Chef from NY; Eli Irland, Sous Chef from CA; Megan Logan, Executive Chef from CA; and Afton Farnsworth, Chef from CA, take on the challenge of creating an American classic, the Burger.
The chefs must make and plate a burger for each of the 3 rounds, Appetizer, Entrée,
and Dessert, using the mystery basket ingredients and any additional pantry and fridge
items. The chef whose burger the judges like the least...will be Chopped.
For the Appetizer Round, the chefs must utilize:
Veal Shoulder
Bean Sprouts
Marsala Wine
Veal Tongue
Evelyn makes a Veal Patty with Quick Pickle Mung Bean Sprout
Eli makes Veal Tongue Marsala Sliders with Bean Sprout Slaw
Megan makes Veal & Brie Sliders with Marsala Braised Onions
Afton makes Veal Bánh Mì with Marsala Sriracha Mayo
For the Entrée Round, the chefs are tasked with using the following ingredients:
Whole Brisket
Short Ribs
Picked Juice Popsicles
Quail Eggs
Eli serves an Open Faced Double Beef Short Rib and Brisket
Burger
Afton serves a Brisket Burger with Sriracha BBQ Sauce
Evelyn serves a 50-50 Brisket and Short Rib Burger with
Scallion Salad
Chopped: Chef Afton. The judges felt that he fell short in
execution. He left the quail eggs off the plate and his pickle juice lacked
creativity.
The Dessert Round challenged the chefs with Hamburger Buns, Chocolate Peanut Clusters, Shaved Coconut, and Sesame Seeds.
Eli makes Chocolate Peanut Cluster on Coconut Sesame French Toast
Evelyn makes a Coconut Ice Cream and French Toast Burger
Chopped: Chef Eli. In the first round, portions of his burger
were undercooked and in the second round, his burger was missing quail
eggs.
Chopped Champion: Chef Evelyn Garcia. She wins $10,000.
