Chopped "Teen Tournament: Part 4" Recap (8/5/14)

Tuesday's episode of Chopped saw the following four teen chefs competing for a $25,000 cash prize, $40,000 college scholarship, and the last spot in the Chopped Teen Tournament: Grand Finale: 
 
Jake Diamond, 13
 
Morgan Goldstein, 14
 
Antonio Jubela-Gordon, 16
 
Sequoia Pranger, 16  
 
 
The teen chefs were given 30 minutes per round to complete an Appetizer, Entrée, and Dessert. The teen chef whose dish the judges liked the least was Chopped.


In the Appetizer Round, the mystery basket included Salsa Verde, Chicken Breast, Bundled Lunch Kits, & Blue Corn Tortillas.
 
Jake made Deconstructed Mexican Chicken Nachos
 
Morgan made Chicken Ravioli with Salsa Verde Reduction
 
Antonio made Tumeric Chicken with Salsa Verde Mole
 
Sequoia made Chicken Tacos with Queso Fresco
 
 
Chopped: Antonio Jubela-Gordon. His chicken was undercooked and one of his plates were incomplete.
 
 
For the Entrée Round, the teen chefs were challenged with Buffalo Tenderloin, Couscous, Rainbow Chard, & Squeezable Blueberry Yogurt.
 
Morgan made Lemon-Pepper Buffalo Tenderloin with Arugula Salad  
 
Sequoia made Seared Buffalo Tenderloin with Couscous
 
Jake made Seared Buffalo Tenderloin with Blueberry Reduction
 
 
Chopped: Jake Diamond. He overcooked his steak and one of the judges plates was missing sauce.
 
 
The Dessert Round, featured Chocolate Swiss Rolls, Popcorn Rolls, Blackberries, & Gummy Fish. 
 
Sequoia made Swiss Roll Bark with Popcorn Brittle  
 
Morgan made Berry Chocolate Ice Cream with Caramel Corn
 
 
Chopped: Morgan Goldstein. In her Appetizer Round, the judges felt that 50% of her ingredients were placed on the crouton & in the Entrée Round her steak was overcooked and under seasoned.
 
 
Chopped Champion: Sequoia Pranger, 16. She wins the last spot in the Grand Finale and a shot at a $25,000 cash prize & college scholarship.
