Chopped "Four Fathers" Recap (6/10/14)

In honor of Father's Day, Tuesday's episode of Chopped featured four fathers competing for a chance at $10k and the title of Chopped Champion:

Herb Hand, Dad & Line Coach at Vanderbilt University
Ian-Max Henriquez, Stay at Home Dad
Keith Young, Dad & Firefighter
Richie Katzenberg, Dad & Retired Restaurateur

In the Appetizer Round, the dads had 20 minutes to create a meal using Salt & Vinegar Chips, Dover Sole Filets, Red Russian Kale, & Sour Cream.

Herb made Potato Chip-Crusted Sole with Bacon & Garlic Kale
Ian made Deep-Fried Sole with Kale Salad and Cornichon Remoulade
Richie made Potato Chip-Crusted Sole with Kale Salad
Keith made Salt and Vinegar Fish Cake with Spicy Remoulade 

Chopped:  Ian Max-Henriquez. The judges felt that his presentation was a little sloppy.
 
For the Entrée Round, the mystery basket included Single Malt Scotch, Lamb Porterhouse, Rapini (green cruciferous vegetable), & Tamarind Paste.
Keith made Pan Seared Indian Spiced Lamb T-Bone
Richie made Marinated Lamb Chop with Tamarind Rapini and Rice Pilaf
Herb made Pan Seared Lamb with Thai Peanut Sauce 
 
Chopped: Coach Herb Hand. The judges felt his sauce lacked flavor and his presentation was not appealing.
 
The Dessert Round, challenged the dads with Chocolate Cigars, Rice Pudding, Pretzels, & Cocktail Nuts.
Richie made Mascarpone-Stuffed French Toast with Raspberries
Keith made Rice Pudding Crème Brulee with Chocolate Bark
 
Chopped: Richie Katzenburg. In the Entrée round, his sour cream was too thick and his Dessert lacked finesse.
 
Chopped Champion: Keith Young. He won $10,000.
