Wednesday's episode of Top Chef began with a Sudden Death Quickfire Challenge.
 
In a Sudden Death Quickfire, the chef who loses the first part of the Quickfire challenge faces immediate elimination from the competition.
 
Quickfire Challenge: Chefs must create a delicious dish highlighting tea. The winner receives Immunity. Ming Tsai, Chef & Owner of Blue Ginger serves as guest judge. 
Melissa: Seared Duck with Toasted Nut Oolong Tea-Infused Rice
 
Katsuji: Brown Rice with Tea Broth with Brown Rice Crusted Tuna
 
Katie: Golden Honey Black Tea Panna Cotta
 
Gregory: Tuna Crudo with Strawberry White Tea & Coconut
 
Ron: Chocolate & Salt Herbal Tea Crusted Duck Breast with Polenta
 
Aaron: Seared Monkfish Cheeks with Gunpowder & Spearmint Tea Gastrique
 
Adam: Pineapple & Burnt Citrus "Iced Tea-Viche"
 
James: Crispy Skin Trout with Quinoa & Asian Pear Tea Salad
 
Rebecca: Lemongrass & Pomegranate Roobis Tea-Infused Cake

Sudden Death Elimination: Aaron is selected for elimination. He must pick one chef he thinks he could beat in a sudden death cook off. If he beats this chef, they both remain in the competition. If he loses, he goes home.
 
Sudden Death Challenge: Create a dish using boiling water as your only heat source. (30 min) Aaron chooses to compete against Katie.
 
Aaron: Cucumber, Carrot, Mint and Raw Peanuts wrapped in Pureed Shrimp Noodle
 
Katie: Saffron Hand Cut Pappardelle Pasta, Smoked Mozzarella and Cherry Tomatoes
 
Aaron wins the Sudden Death Challenge...and lives to cook another day (in the words of Padma)
 
 
Elimination Challenge: Chefs must use a classic ball park snack (pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy, and peanuts) to create a fine dining dish. The chefs will serve their dishes at the first ever Cathedral of Baseball event held at Fenway Park.
