July 30, 2014

On tonight's episode of Chopped, the following four teen chefs: Max Aronson; Tommi Rae Fowler; Brandon Medley; and Hannah Bukzin competed for a spot in the Chopped Teen Grand Finale, $25,000 prize, and a college scholarship.

Each teen chef had 30 minutes to create three meals Appetizer, Entrée, and Dessert for a panel of judges. The teen chef whose dish the judges liked the least was Chopped.

For the Appetizer Round, the teen chefs had 30 minutes to create a meal using Rabbit & Ginger Sausage, Dandelion Greens, Dried Currants, & Hot Sauce Flavored Candy Canes.

Max made Rabbit & Currant Pot Sticker with Dandelion Green Salad

Tommi Rae made Rabbit Sausage & Dandelion Green Tostada

Brandon made Sausage & Salad Tortilla Chip

Hannah made Dandelion Green & Rabbit Sausage Flatbread

Chopped: Brandon Medley. The judges thought the balsamic vinegar taste in his dish was too abrasive.

In the Entrée Round, the mystery basket contained Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Cornish Hens, Edamame Hummus and Hen of the Woods Mushrooms.

Tommi Rae made Fried Hen Legs with Hen of the Woods Mushroom Gravy

Hannah made Fried Cornish Hen with Pineapple-Edamame Sauce

Max made Bacon-Crusted Game Hen with Skordalia Sauce

Chopped: Hannah Buzkin. The cook on the cornish hen was inconsistent and the mushrooms were under seasoned.

The Dessert Round challenged the teen chefs with Cinnamon Cereal, Chocolate Fudge, Pie Crust, & Grape Carbonated Candy.

Max made Orange & Grape Ice Cream with Cinnamon Brittle

Tommi Rae made Funnel Cake with Grape Brittle and Cinnamon-Fudge Roll Up

Chopped: Max Aronson. In the Entrée Round his sauce was too sweet & in the Dessert Round his ice cream did not taste like grape carbonated candy.

Chopped Champion: Tommi Rae Fowler. She wins a spot in the Chopped Teen Grand Finale.
