On Sunday's episode of "Chopped Tournament of Stars," the following four retired athletes compete for a chance at winning $10,000 for charity:
Jackie Joyner-Kersee, an all-time great athlete, who won six medals at four separate Olympic Games
Greg Louganis, an American Olympic diver, who won gold medals at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games
Charles Oakley, an American professional basketball player, who played 19 seasons in the NBA
Brandi Chastain, an American soccer defender and
midfielder, who played for the U.S. women's national soccer team (She still plays for the CA Storm Soccer Team)
In the Appetizer Round, the mystery basket included Organic Green Juice, Alligator, Hen of the Woods Mushrooms, and Mini Rainbow Marshmallows.
Greg prepared Asian Inspired Sautéed Alligator
Jackie prepared Sautéed Alligator with Mushrooms and Peppers
Brandi served Alligator Tender Salad
Charles made Breaded Alligator with Sauteed Mushrooms
Chopped: Jackie Joyner-Kersee. The judges felt that the marshmallows and green juice weren’t well represented on her plate.
The Entrée Round challenged the sports stars with Turkey Tenderloin, Double-Yolk Eggs, Pattypan Squash and Finger Limes.
Brandi made Seared Turkey Tenderloin with Mashed Potatoes and Fried Squash
Charles served Turkey Tenderloin with Egg Over Easy and Hash
Greg prepared Turkey Alfredo with Roasted Potatoes
Chopped: Charles Oakley. The judges felt that his dish was lacking salt.
For the Dessert Round, the sports stars were required to use
Liquid Breakfast Drink, Crystallized Ginger, Red Bosc Pears, and Pink Wafer Cookies.
Greg made Ginger Ice Cream with Caramelized Pears
Brandi made Ice Box Cakes
Chopped: Greg Louganis. The Judges felt that his Appetizer was too salty and that his Entrée course did not need potatoes.
Chopped Champion: Branid Chastain. She received $10,000 for her charity, the Bay Area Women’s
Sports Initiative “BOWSI.” She will return to compete in the "Tournament of Stars" Finale for a chance at winning $50,000 for charity.
